Week 1
We had a very smooth whelping, and two little sable boy puppies. They were both born easily and got going straight away, and Suzi is a wonderful mother. We'll update this page regularly with new pictures.
At 4 days old...
Week 2
The boys are doing great, putting loads of weight on and developing as they should. At 9 days old, they are already trying to stand off the floor, and are moving around with more purpose rather than just paddling their legs! Their ears are opening too as of the last day or so, the boy with the white collar is slightly ahead, but they are both now responding to sounds from traffic outside, and turning their heads to sounds on each side. Eyes are also getting ready to open, looking more like they're shut rather than sealed. More photos this week too, hopefully I'll be able to get some of their first wobbly steps!
At 10 days old...eyes are starting to open now on the sable and white boy, he'll be able to see in a few days. They are also starting to take their first very wobbly steps!
Week 3
Eyes have opened, ears have opened, and the little boys are starting to explore the outside world! We have been introducing different noises, sights and smells, and introducing them to the other dogs in our family. They are taking it all in their stride, and getting quite noisy when playing with each other! Now they've started to walk and move around better, taking pictures is a bit of a challenge!
Week 4
The boys are doing absolutely great, walking and running is happening much better, and at 3 1/2 weeks it's time to start weaning them soon. Here are a couple more new photos of them and big sister Stella, I'm hoping to get a video up of the squirts soon too. They also now have their kennel names, which we have shortened to Rocky and Apollo for referring to them, rather than the variety of things we've been calling them for the past 3 weeks! Any guesses as to the link between the names?
Some more photos...we have started weaning the little boys, their first taste of real food was a chicken wing! They didn't really make much of an impression on it, as their teeth are only just starting to come through, but they know exactly what to do with their natural diet! Enjoy :)
Weeks 5 & 6
Many apologies for it being so long since the latest update, we have had a busy few weeks, and as the pups have got more active they have been harder and harder to photograph, especially indoors! We have had plenty of visitors - people, dogs and children - and they are pretty bombproof little guys now! Weaning is going great, and at 7 weeks they will have their eye screening done too. Sorry the video is poor quality, took it on my phone...if you skip on towards the middle it plays better!
Weeks 7 & 8
The last couple of weeks the puppies have grown massively in confidence and personality! We have two lovely homes decided for them, and they are keeping their "pet" names Rocky and Apollo for them both. They are now fully weaned, worm counted (and worm free!) eye tested and as well socialised as we can hope for. They will be going to their new homes slightly earlier than we usually let them go at the age of 9 weeks, as they are both ready. We have really enjoyed having these two, they have been little stars and hopefully we will hear more from them in the future as they grow up. So here goes our last instalment...for now!
