Our Backgrounds
My husband Narvik and myself (Hannah) have always had an interest in animals. His parents owned and bred Shelties themselves, and after we got married they suggested the Sheltie as a breed for us. I had grown up with a house full of dogs, my father had a competition team of 3 Alsatians with which he did Working Trials and Obedience, my mother had a Bearded Collie and a Border Collie, and my aunt bred Collies and Setters also. Having come from a house full, I wanted a dog for us, but we couldn't decide on a breed....Narvik wanted to get a small breed because we didn't have much space at the time, but having grown up with intelligent and willing working dogs I couldn't get on with the idea of getting a terrier or similar...it just wasn't for me (though I know many wonderful terriers!)...this was when a Sheltie was first mentioned...and we have never looked back!
We became interested in the Stabyhoun in 2013, and were lucky to get a fantastic bitch from Holland, Mieke, who has been a great addition to our family. As only the 11th import at the time she was one of the first Stabyhoun in the UK, and has been a great ambassador for the breed, having been a number of peoples' first Stabij-introduction! |

Where We Live

We are blessed to live in a beautiful valley in the Lake District National Park. We previously lived in an area designated a Red Squirrel Protection Area, the dogs enjoyed their presence ... hours are spent by them growling through the window at the Squirrels, who seem to enjoy teasing them!
For anyone wishing to visit our dogs or litters when we have them who wish to stay in the area for a night or two, we can recommend a couple of local places which are excellent and dog friendly. We are also a visiting home for anyone who wishes to meet a Stabyhoun and find out some more about this wonderful rare dog, which you can find out more about on our Stabyhoun page. Please do note that all appointments and enquiries must go through the UK Stabyhoun Association, who may be able to introduce you to a dog closer to your home.

Our Mission Statement
We strive to breed healthy, happy puppies of true British type. All of our dogs are health tested and matings are very carefully considered, taking into account the inbreeding coefficient of the individuals to be bred from, and of the resulting litter. Our dogs are pets first and foremost, and their health and happiness is our main concern. All our dogs and puppies are fed on a natural raw diet which we believe to be the best diet possible, more information can be found on our Raw Feeding page. Potential homes will be carefully vetted, and lifetime help and advice will be given to anyone who does purchase a puppy from us.
